Suggested study times for students
As a guide, students should allow time for completing homework and time for revising the learning from the day.
The guidelines assume that students do homework three-five nights per week, with more time dedicated to homework and revision as each year level progresses.
For Years 7-10, work on weekends and during school holidays should only be necessary if the suggested times are not completed on week nights. In the senior years, these times serve as a guideline; there will be some periods in the year, such as in the lead-up to exams, when more time is required for personal study and revision.
Students are expected to complete, on average, the following amount of homework or study between three to five times a week:
Year 7 Minimum 30 minutes
Year 8 Minimum 45 minutes- 1 ½ hours
Year 9 Minimum 1 hour - 1 ¾ hours
Year 10 Minimum 1 ½ hours - 2 hours
Year 11 Minimum 2 ½ hours -3 hours
Year 12 Minimum 3 hours - 6 hours
